Skills for Adolescence is a comprehensive life skills and prevention program that helps middle school students, parents, and teachers cope with the physical, emotional, and social challenges of early adolescence. This three-year   program builds critical competencies and social and emotional skills by promoting positive social attitudes, respect and responsibility while guiding young people toward healthy choices and a lifestyle free of drugs, bullying and violence.

 

Classroom Curriculum:

  • Seven Teaching Units – Entering the Teen Years: The Journey of Adolescence; Building Self-Confidence and Communication Skills; Service Learning – A lesson-driven, step-by-step guide for planning and implementing meaningful projects; Managing Emotions in Positive Ways; Improving Peer Relationships; Strengthening Family Relationships; Making Healthy Choices; Setting Goals for Healthy Living; Summing Up: Developing Your Potential. Each unit provides activities for expanding lessons across the curriculum and within the school and community.
  • Workshop Guide - Teachers's Guide to Workshop
  • Program Guide – Includes program rationale and conceptual model, teaching and implementation strategies, positive school climate guide, and evaluation options.
